Because sometimes things happen for a reason?

A while back (around July) The Husband, received an email from Walmart telling him the crib they had purchased two years ago was being recalled. Bella was a little upset as she wanted her second child to use the same crib ... but soon cheered up when they were told they were being refunded for the whole set. It was one of the Nursery-In-A Box kind of deals. Even better they got to keep the chest of drawers and changing table. The refund was $216. More than enough to replace the crib ...

The next day the A/C failed. Urgh. You may recall this post, "Phew ... What A Weekend"? Well Bella only had $20 in the Emergency Fund (Orman and Ramsey are probably wincing at the thought). So the decision was made that Baby Bella would be relegated to the pack-n-play for a short period of time, in order to pay the first and last payment of a $4350 loan.

In the meantime the Toddler's feet grew. Her growth spurts always seem to happen at the worst of times! So here Bella was, Baby Bella in pack-n-play for nearly two months and The Toddler's toes hanging over her sandals ...

The next day Bella went to the mailbox and was blown over to find a refund from the insurance company for $186.00. With this she was able to buy a brand new crib for Baby Bella and a new pair of fancy sparkly trainers for The Toddler (who claims her new shoes make her jump the bestest!)

So even though this may not be the best case of budgeting for unforeseen circumstances, and Bella is by no-means advocating leaving money to fate. It IS a nice simple tale of how sometimes, just sometimes, good fortune can happen once-in-a-while and take the stress of money away ...
